Dr. Wanda Montalvo is an avid public and community health nurse leader committed to reducing health disparities, inequity, and barriers to accessing primary care services. She is a keen collaborator and who has worked in academia, philanthropy, trade associations, and community health centers. As a Senior Fellow for Public Health Integration, and Innovation at the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC), Dr. Montalvo informs the design of federal projects that aim to advance evidence-based solutions for care delivery and improve access in underserved communities in partnership with health centers, primary care associations and health center-controlled networks. As a Hispanic nurse leader, she volunteered to support the documentary Reckoning with Racism in Nursing, a series documenting how nurses experience racism from education to leadership roles. Dr. Montalvo earned her PhD from Columbia University, serves on several national committees, most recently the HHS Office of Public Affairs Expert Working Group on Equity-Centered, Quality Family Planning Services and the American Academy of Nursing. She strongly encourages health professionals to take part with digital media to debunk mis and disinformation harming trust in our public health care system, research, and science.
