Are you interested in hosting or co-hosting the upcoming Social Mission Alliance Conference? If so, we want to hear from you! We are accepting proposals through August 30, 2024 to select a site for the next conference to happen in Fall 2025 or Spring 2026.

Details

Opportunities for your institution:

    • High visibility, high recognition for the university and schools involved
    • Clear institutional leadership in the social mission of health professions education
    • High intensity experience for students and faculty involved in supporting the conference
    • Partner with community organizations to promote those linkages and support community engagement programs
    • Recognition for standing up for compassion and social justice in the health professions
    • Promote inter-professional education at the university and schools involved
    • Demonstrate local and regional leadership in educational programming
    • Local and national press opportunities

Specifications for the location of the selected site:

    • Hotel/Venue
      • Plenary space for up to 600 (theater style)
      • Breakout space (8+ rooms that would hold participant size)
    • Ease/expense of travel
    • Lodging for 500+ that is walkable
    • Special events with community partners

The selected school/institution will need to:

    • Represent two or more health profession disciplines
    • Commit $50,000 to the conference budget*
    • Commit to partner in fundraising efforts
    • Provide a leadership team that includes:
      • Lead faculty who can dedicate 10% time for a one-year period
      • Senior support staff person who can dedicate 20% time for a one-year period
    • Participate on the Program Committee (1-2 faculty in addition to leadership team)
    • Provide communications support to work with the SMA communications team and conference management
    • Provide faculty/student volunteers for Program/Poster/Planning/Events

 

*Schools/Institutions may meet this commitment in a number of ways, including fundraising or in partnering with other institutions to reach the full amount. Fundraising related to this commitment will not apply to local fundraising in collaboration with the SMA National Program Committee.

Who should fill out this application?

We require at least two health professions to be represented in a single application, which can come across schools in the same institution or by forming a partnership with other institutions. Only one Dean or other senior leader should submit the final application with full details of the proposal and all collaborators.
